The science that inspired Oliver Sacks’ seminal work Awakenings, is brought to a new generation via Seeker’s digital-first science programming. This episode of their YouTube series ‘HUMAN’ explores Dr. Sacks’ groundbreaking L-DOPA research in the 1960s which helped treat his patients with ‘encephalitis lethargica’ – the mysterious neurological disease left survivors of the 1920 epidemic in a ‘sleepy state’ for 40 years.
